I would like to point out some important information about our class.
Attendance: Bring your child to school on time every day. School begins at 8:28 a.m. and ends at 2:37 p.m. If your child is sick or needs to be out for another reason please call the office to let them know at 687-2964.
:
Breakfast: Please make sure your child is aware if they are to pick up a breakfast as they come into school.
Daily Snack: Please send a small healthy snack, such as fruit, cheese and crackers, or vegetables with dip with your child everyday. Please avoid cookies, candy, chips, or pop. Healthy drinks you can send include milk, juice, or water(sports bottle top), if you choose to include a drink. Your child will NOT be able to buy milk for snack. Your child’s snack needs to be in a bag labeled “SNACK”, and kept separate from their lunch. This saves time and ensures that your child doesn’t eat his/her lunch too early in the day by mistake.
Notes or Money: When sending money or notes to school please put them in an envelope labeled with your child’s name, what it is for, and the teacher’s name.
Clothing: Mark clothing such as sweaters, coats, hats, and mittens with your child’s name. Everyday, weather permitting, we will go outside for recess. Please make sure your child is appropriately dressed for the weather.
Bathroom: Remind your child how to use the toilet correctly. Your child should be able to use the bathroom independently. Remind them to flush the toilet and wash their hands after every use. We will go over correct use of our bathroom. They can keep an extra set of pants, underwear, and socks in a baggie in their backpacks just in case of an accident.
Toys: Emphasize to your child that toys must stay at home. They will be allowed to bring things in when we have our special “Show and Tell” days.
Hot Lunch: Each morning I will be asking your child if he/she will be buying hot lunch. If they are, you don’t need to send a lunch. Let your child know that they will be buying hot lunch. Go over your child’s choice so they are prepared to tell me. Hot lunch menus are sent home each month. Your child will be given an ID card in for lunch. Deposits can be made for the week, the month, or the whole year. Please read the handouts on the Mealtime Lunch Program for complete details. The children may also just choose to buy a milk only and will tell me that during our morning lunch count.
Cold Lunch: Your child has the option of bringing his/her own lunch. If so, you can send a drink or have them order milk only. Again, money for milk can be prepaid on their account.
Birthdays: What a special day for your child! We will celebrate in a special way in class. You can celebrate your child’s birthday in many ways. The following are some suggestions:
*Send in stickers, pencils, bookmarks, etc for all of their friends.
*REMINDER --FOOD TREATS ARE NO LONGER ALLOWED
Backpacks: Please be sure to check your child’s backpack each evening. The children LOVE to share their work! Many important notes will be sent home from the district, school, and classroom. I will be sending home a newsletter each Friday to keep you informed on what we are working on in class. Homework will also be sent home and expected to be completed and returned. Information on our class schedule and routines will be sent home soon.
